What type of therapy do you offer?I am a Person-Centred therapist. This approach trusts you, the client, as the expert on yourself and what you need to live a happy and fulfilled life. This means that I will not try to change your thinking, or tell you what you should do. During our sessions, my role is to create an environment in which you feel safe to explore all aspects of yourself, as well as any difficulties which you might be experiencing. In order to achieve this, I will: listen to your situation with empathy and understanding be honest and open in how I experience you and your world accept and value you fully as a person You can find out more about the person-centred approach to therapy in this guide, which has been produced by the Person-Centred Association.

How do you deliver sessions?I offer online and telephone therapy sessions. I use Zoom to deliver online sessions.
-
Which days do you work?I work Monday to Thursday, including evenings.
-
How long do sessions last?Sessions last for 50 minutes unless we have agreed otherwise.
-
How often will we meet?I usually meet with clients on a weekly basis, and most clients have a fixed weekly slot which is theirs for as long as they need it. However, I appreciate that this may not be possible for everyone, and I will try to be as flexible as possible.
-
How many sessions will I need?As every client is unique, it is not possible to say how many sessions we will have together. Some clients may wish to have a few sessions to work through a particular issue, whilst others are seeking a longer duration of therapy. Either way, the number of sessions is very much in your control and I do not ask clients to commit to a fixed number of sessions.
-
What happens in our first session?During our first session, I will take some details from you and I will ask you some specific questions to help me understand your situation more fully. This is not an assessment and is to make sure that I am aware of any information which may be relevant to our work together. We will also have a chance to discuss the new client forms which I will send prior to your first session. I will also provide more information about the confidential nature of the sessions.
-
What happens if I need to cancel a session? If you need to cancel or change a session, it is helpful if you can let me know as soon as possible. If I receive at least 24 hours' notice then you will not be charged for a missed session. Any cancelled, missed or changed sessions with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged at the usual session fee.
-
What if I have an emergency between sessions? As I do not provide a crisis service, I am unable to respond to emergency situations between sessions. If you are experiencing a crisis, have a medical emergency, or feel that your safety is at risk, you should call 999 immediately. You can also call the Samaritans at any time on 116 123.
